Two-Level Micro-to-Nanoscale Hierarchical TiO2 Nanolayers on Titanium Surface
Joint replacement is being actively developed within modern orthopedics. One novel material providing fast implantation is bioactive coatings. The synthesis of targeted nanocoatings on metallic nanotitanium surface is reported in this paper. TiO₂-based micro- and nanocoatings were produced by sol-gel synthesis using dip-coating technology with subsequent fast (shock) drying in hot plate mode at...
متن کاملTiO2 micro-nano-hybrid surface to alleviate biological aging of UV-photofunctionalized titanium
Bioactivity and osteoconductivity of titanium degrade over time after surface processing. This time-dependent degradation is substantial and defined as the biological aging of titanium. UV treatment has shown to reactivate the aged surfaces, a process known as photofunctionalization. This study determined whether there is a difference in the behavior of biological aging for titanium with micro-...
متن کاملMolecular titanium-hydroxamate complexes as models for TiO2 surface binding.
Hydroxamate binding modes and protonation states have yet to be conclusively determined. Molecular titanium(iv) phenylhydroxamate complexes were synthesized as structural and spectroscopic models, and compared to functionalized TiO2 nanoparticles. In a combined experimental-theoretical study, we find that the predominant binding form is monodeprotonated, with evidence for the chelate mode.

As orthopaedic and dental metallic implant materials, titanium and titanium alloys are widely used due to their relatively low modulus, good fracture toughness, excellent strenthto-weight ration, and superior biocompatibility and corrosion resistance (Long and Rack, 1998). They have become the first choice above all other candidate metallic implant materials such as Co-Cr-Mo alloys, stainless s...
متن کاملHierarchical micro/nanostructured titanium with balanced actions to bacterial and mammalian cells for dental implants
A versatile strategy to endow dental implants with long-term antibacterial ability without compromising the cytocompatibility is highly desirable to combat implant-related infection. Silver nanoparticles (Ag NPs) have been utilized as a highly effective and broad-spectrum antibacterial agent for surface modification of biomedical devices. However, the high mobility and subsequent hazardous effe...
